What is a stretched fabric wall covering?
A stretched fabric wall covering—also known as wall upholstery or stretched textile walling—involves fixing upholstery fabric onto profiles installed directly on the wall. This technique creates a perfectly smooth surface with no visible seams, while allowing the integration of various technical materials depending on the project’s requirements. Finishes can remain discreet or be enhanced with decorative trims for a more distinctive signature.
At Maison Berthet Logeais, we work with textures, colours and patterns to create unique textile décors tailored to each space and its atmosphere. Every choice influences both the mood and the comfort of the room.
Acoustic comfort: technical performance serving well-being
One of the key advantages of stretched fabric lies in its acoustic performance. When combined with sound-absorbing materials such as acoustic foam placed between the wall and the fabric, it significantly reduces sound reverberation and enhances overall room comfort.
The wall covering absorbs part of the sound, limiting noise disturbances and creating a more pleasant everyday environment. This solution is particularly effective in large rooms, open-plan spaces, or any area with strong echo. Beyond its technical qualities, stretched fabric contributes to the well-being of occupants—a highly valued benefit in both residential projects and hospitality or workplace environments.
A decorative feature crafted down to the finest detail
Creating a stretched fabric wall requires genuine expertise in decorative upholstery, combining technical precision with aesthetic sensitivity. At Maison Berthet Logeais, we guide our clients in selecting materials, textures, colours, and finishes to design fully bespoke projects.
We select fabrics not only for their aesthetic qualities but also for their acoustic performance, tailored to each interior. Various finishes can be offered, such as decorative trims, finishing profiles, or bespoke inserts, to complete the composition with care.
The stretched fabric wall becomes a true interior design feature—able to structure a space, bring warmth to a room, and transform its atmosphere over time.
Our landmark project: BRAFA Art Fair — Victor Horta (2024)
In 2024, Maison Berthet Logeais took part in the reconstruction of a Victor Horta Art Nouveau interior for the BRAFA Art Fair in Brussels, in collaboration with Galerie Marc Maison.
For this exceptional project, we carried out a wall covering in mirrored moiré silk. This highly meticulous work required complete mastery of tension, alignment, and finishing techniques, allowing us to faithfully recreate the aesthetic richness of Horta’s Art Nouveau interiors.
Photographed by AZB, this project perfectly illustrates how stretched fabric wall coverings can transform a space and play a central role in its identity—whether in contemporary interiors, heritage settings, or scenographic installations.
